We are honored that you are visiting our web site. Being a three century old temple, we are always striving to restore the historical monument and Vaishnava cult in the region. While this site will highlight about the important cultural and spiritual events of the region, we give below a breif history pertaining to the evolution of the Vaishnava cult in the region. This web site allows us to reach people we may never have been able to contact before.

History depicts that about five hundred years ago, Sri Chaitanya on his pilgrimage to Puri from Nadia Navadweep visited Gopinath Temple at Remuna situated in Balasore district of Orissa.During the aforesaid pilgrimage , he stayed for some time in a tiny Gadjat kingdom of Mangalpur about 30 Km away from Remuna. The king of the said tiny kingdom was initiated by Sri Mahaprabhu with the Vaishnava cult and the successors of the king later on took the pioneership in spreading the Vaishava cult in the region by constructing several temples out which Sri Chaitanya temple was one of them where the life-size deity of Sri Nitai and Sri Gourang has been kept..(The photos enclosed). The great historian of Orissa and a retired professor of Utkal University, Dr Prahallad Mohanty had made extensive research work on the historical events pertaing to Vaishnava cult of the region.
